Leeward Yacht Club, just a short walk from Long Bay House, now offers tennis and Pickle Ball. In case you are not familiar with Pickle Ball, it is a paddle game played on a badminton size court. It is a combination of ping-pong, tennis and badminton played with paddles and a ball over a ground level net. The court is much smaller than a tennis court, so there is not as much running involved.

Abaco and Green Turtle Cay featured in the Miami Herald, October 23, 2011

In an article matching personality types to different Bahamian islands, the Herald matched Abaco as follows. “If your favorite fabric is neoprene and your favorite bubbly is the kind that you breathe out of your SCUBA regulator…” then Abaco, with the fourth longest barrier reef in the world is for you. ”On Green Turtle Cay is Brendal’s Dive Center, and he also caters to snorkelers. Afterwards, treat yourself to a Goombay Smash in New Plymouth at funky Miss Emily’s Blue Bee Bar, where the potent concoction was invented. ” So grab your snorkel, your dive skin and head over to Green Turtle Cay.

Long Bay House is on Long Bay Beach, Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and over a mile long. The estate includes over 300 feet of beach. Nestled among coconut palms, the sound of the Atlantic Ocean is your constant companion at this vacation paradise. You can rent either 2.5 or 3.5 bedrooms of this spacious house and enjoy the entire property.

Long Bay House sits 20′ above sea level overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is located on a 2 acre estate of lush tropical foliage, including fruit and flowering trees. The house provides magnificent views of Long Bay Beach, Pelican Cay and the Atlantic Ocean.

The house includes a large great room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dining room with seating for eight. The screened-in porch offers additional seating and another dining area even closer to the beach. There are two master bedrooms with king size beds, each with its own bathroom, and one of the master bedrooms has a bunk room with two twin beds. With these two bedrooms, the house sleeps 6 people. A third bedroom with a king size bed and its own bathroom is also available. With this third bedroom, the house accommodates 8. The house includes satellite television, DVD player, wireless internet, and local telephone service. While the house is positioned to catch the sea breeze, it is fully air-conditioned, just in case.

Steps from the front door is the fresh water pool. In-pool seating on three sides of the pool makes it a great place to sit and enjoy an evening cocktail. The pool is surrounded by a large open deck area for relaxing in the sun.

Overlooking the pool is a 20 foot high observation tower from which you can take in the 360 degree view of the island and enjoy sunsets. There is a thatched roof chickee close to the beach with a picnic table. There is a gazebo directly on the beach which provides an elevated and shaded sitting area.

The house is over 250 feet from the road and shielded from it by a dense growth of trees.

Green Turtle Cay is approximately 3 miles long and 1/2 mile wide. Most people get around on golf carts which are available for rent. Long Bay House is located a short 5 minute golf cart ride from New Plymouth. New Plymouth is the only town on the island of Green Turtle Cay. Green Turtle Club and Bluff House are also brief golf cart rides away. If you have a boat there is a public dock nearby for small boats and Leeward Yacht Club is just a couple hundred feet down the road and can accommodate much larger boats.

Green Turtle Cay is unique, as is Long Bay House. While there are many options for rental homes on Green Turtle Cay, no other compares to Long Bay House and its location. If you do nothing else on this web site, look at the photographs. The pictures tell it all.

Pricing:

Long Bay House (2.5 bedrooms) rents for $2,750/per week (maximum 6 people). Each of the two bedrooms has a king size bed and each has its own bathroom. One of these bedrooms has an adjoining bunk room with two twin beds.

Long Bay House (3.5 bedrooms) rents for $3,000/per week. There is a maximum of 8 people. If you need more living space to go along with this third bedroom, this third bedroom can be expanded into a full scale in-law quarters for an additional fee – please inquire. The in-laws quarters option includes another kitchen, sitting area with its own TV, separate, additional beach gazebo, private deck and separate entrance and beach and road access. It is perfect for a couple who want some private space but still want to participate in group activities as they choose.

There is also a 10% Bahamian tax which we must collect.

Holiday prices are higher – Spring Break, beginning of lobster season, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
